Dutch parents give up adopted kid after seven years

I just saw this on our local bay area NBC 11 news about a dutch couple giving up their 7-year old adopted daughter because the kid they say doesn’t fit in. They had adopted the South Korean girl when she was four months old after they failed to conceive any children. However after the adoption they did conceive two kids biologically. They have handed over the kid to social workers in Hong Kong where they are currently living (The dutch guy is a diplomat). I am not sure what to say but their actions certainly don’t fit it.

    From BBC news-

“After our daughter came to our family we found it was hard to make real contact with her… in 2004 Hong Kong medical specialists diagnosed that she suffered from fear of bonding in a severe form,” Mr Poetering said.

I guess you can get Hong Kong medical specialists to diagnose anything you want them to say. And the solution is to give her up to a foster care, just sad.

  2. Some people give up pets that have become too inconvenient, so what’s the harm? Gosh, seven years is a long time to be a parent.

In case it isn’t obvious, I’m being sarcastic.

  3. Why you peoples being so unreasonable? In many advanced country, is very important to have how you say, right accessories. Now right accessory include at least one adopted child from third world. Just look at Angelina Joyluck club. But if child not match furniture, what parent can do?
