Snow in balmy Bay Area?
Temperature records are being broken in my neck of the woods this week. I start everyday with a look at the local weather and have been amazed at the prediction for the next few days. They are expecting snow at elevations as low as 2000 ft. near here. Moffet Field, where Dubya lands when he comes visiting, recorded the lowest temperature since 1946. And only last week I was wearing shorts when running errands. They are blaming a low-pressure system hanging over Canada for this cold snap.
This winter is turning out to be quite freakish. Seattle recently had record rains and the East coast was buried in a record-breaking snowstorm recently. Global warming, my ass!

Last week’s Nor’Easter was but an aberration in this otherwise very warm and snowless winter in the North East. Of course, I missed all the snow as I was busy ducking Cheney’s errant bullets in Texas.
Not sure if you were just kidding, but one of the anticipated effects of global warming is that temperatures will get colder in the North East (not sure about California). Didn’t see ‘The Day After’, but I’m guessing that was the pretext of the movie.
Europe will probably be even worse off - southern France is about the same latitude as Boston but is obviously much warmer thanks to various currents which would change course due to global warming. All in all, warming will just lead to more freakish weather patterns.
It was said in jest. We have had a few posts about asses and buttocks on rantlust of late and I didn’t want to be left behind.
Behind. Heh heh … a punster eh?
Confuscious saying: Butcher who backs up into meat grinder, leaves a little behind in his orders.
Sacre bleu! You are butchering the wise guy’s name. Confuscious rhymes with luscious.
john, I can only aspire to be the super punster that you are.
I think we just found the reason for the cold weather.
And sure enough, there is snow on the mountains surrounding the Bay Area. Doesn’t happen every year. Last weekend, I hiked to the top of one of these in near perfect weather. (And no, papi, I didn’t wear shorts during the hike.)
[...] A get-together with fellow blogger jcaldera always results in bacchanalian consumption of spirits and the consequent hangover the next day. And so it was this President’s day. After the cold snap we had in the Bay Area, this day looked promising and I didn’t want to spend it being a couch potato and nursing my hangover. There was a sudden craving for a good brunch and specifically crêpes. [...]
